Don't go to the shop and expect to pay the same price as you would from their internet shop is all I would say.

Yes - when I first went in I found em a bit snobbish and difficult to get their attention but as its my closest shop I persisted

Then got speaking to em when they weren't so busy and they are nice chaps

Depends what you wanna know really - the shop and Internet are two different businesses so you can't get price match except on hot deals stuff (think that's how it works)

The workshop staff are good and they have a decent set of stock and surprisingly have really helped me build my bike up (rather than refuse to help as I was buying my own components and asking them for advice). I have since spent a fair bit with them and I'm happy to go back

Horses for courses tho - if I'd not gone back after the first time then I'd have just found somewhere else

The shop is really good and well worth at look around.
Salts mill is worth a visit as well.

The guys in there are alright. Like tmb467 says, horse's for course's. Shop and internet are two completely different businesses.

I used to use the shop in Crosshills over thirty years ago when it was Ralph Rileys - things change. Some people buy from CRC and Wiggle etc with no service whatsoever but still complain about AT having snobbish staff?? How's that work out?

Oldfart - what are you wanting to buy from them? If you are local why not call in and have a look around?

It's a large bike shop and with that come alot of customers. Out of so many customers, quite a few will be total numpties, so it's up to you to form a good relationship, as the staff know their stuff and it must be hard for them to have to contend with people bringing in their ASDA £60 specials that are "making a funny noise". They've got some fantastic kit and a great shop, enjoy.

it's been a couple of years since I ordered but I had a couple of 'out of stock' experiences after ordering but at other times they've delivered stuff quickly at the best price around. They did ring me to inform me of the out of stock item and handled the cancelation / refund promptly so credit to them there. I think they would get more people in the shop (me included) if they matched the web price in the shop but after making that mistake once there is no incentive to travel and visit the shop.

Nice shop. Have struggled to get staff attention from time to time. By choice I tend to go to Aire Valley just up the road in Keighley.

Shop and internet are two completely different businesses.

So how does that work?? Are they run by different people?

Edinburgh Bike are the same- though I think you can buy things online for delivery to the stores. And it makes sense in a way, internet prices are less because of the reduced overheads, so why would the shop charge the same?

Also used to visit them regularly in the 90's when they were at Crosshills, but they're more in the wrong direction for me now, so don't visit as often these days. The Salts Mill place is big and well stocked tho.
Agree with people saying they sometimes struggle to get attention, but when I have needed it, it's always been from very helpful/knowledgeable staff. Personally, I prefer to be left to my own devices anyway, until ready for some attention, so I don't have much issue with their apparent aloofness. With having so much stock to look at, they must get a lot of 'tyre kickers' in.
As an aside, every time I drive up towards Settle past that tree, I always spare a thought for the young lad who worked at AT and his pal, very sad.

I've used them a couple of times and got great service. Bought my Blood from them - dealt over the phone as I needed to arrange finance, etc - still arrived next day.

They are my LBS even though I now live in Huddersfield... plenty of stock and they seem to always have what I need, at a good price too.

The staff are sorted, that's the main reason why I still go there as they know what they are talking about and have their own opinions on things not just what the marketing man told them. They've answered my many questions (you'll have to try hard to more of a pain than me)

Not used the on-line side of things strangely, I'm too impatient to wait for delivery men.

Not the shop it used to be in Crosshills ie used to be very friendly & helpful and cheap! Some staff can be a bit arrogant (minority). Guy who sold us my wifes bike couldn't have been more helpful, as was a women I spoke to on the phone when I was trying to source my latest bike purchase last summer.

Note to locals. You can order online and pick up in person for online prices. I ordered some tyres in January and I got a phone call about 2hrs later to say I could go and pick them up. Its a shame you can not wander around the store and get the same prices though, I would definitely buy more stuff from them if they did.

I'm not convinced its 2 separate businesses at all ie definitely run by the one same owner. Unfortunately very rarely see him on the shop floor these days.

Two separate financial entities with their own stock and sales ledgers

They do share stuff tho. As I'd said, if there's something on the web as a 'hot deal' and its in the shop too then I believe they'll price match the web. Alternatively go outside and buy it on the web and arrange for delivery from the shop.
