Anyone ever used one?
These look a lot like the EDS from Wheeltop that a new article did the rounds a couple of years ago but then they never became available.
I need a new GX eagle rear mech and which are something like £100 each so I'm wondering if this something to consider. I know it will cost me more but if the product is actually an upgrade them why wouldn't I treat myself?
I buy a lot from AliExpress heck I've even imported frames direct for China but that wireless set is a no from me - for myself there's a few parts like brakes, shifting, shocks and forks need to come from established manufacturers with local support / spares!
GX mech is £57.99 at CRC (50t version)
This guy does reviews of aliexpress road bike kit
mentions a few issues (waterproofing) on the ltwoo road electronic groupset
If I were you I'd grab a 12 speed deore mech and throw the sram in the sea
Another guy who reviewed it (older video, 11 month old)
Building a road bike from scratch I'd definitely consider it.
Just replacing a GX mech, buy a shimano one, IIRC the pull ratio is the same to two decimal places or something silly.
I had GX on one bike and it was fine until I singlespeeded it, but that wasn't long.
I've got Deore on the other and it's picked up several deep gouges from impacts but still works perfectly. Conversely a riding buddy clipped his super expensive X01189998819991197253 SRAM mech on his super expensive featherweight XC bike on a gatepost lifting it over and it bent. So on that basis I'm sticking with my long held opinion that SRAM mechs are fragile and made of cheese, american burger cheese, not even a decent hard one like parmesan.
Not much actual riding in either of those videos...
Neither say whether it actually shifts ok on a bike.
If have no problems buying from AliExpress or using the eds mech from wheeltop - but....
It's the same price as a gx axs upgrade kit, and that's if your not hit with duty (quite likely)..... So why not just buy that?
Pretty sure Seth from berm peek still uses one on one of his bikes and hasn't reported any issues at all. The biggest advantage the wheeltop wireless mech had was compatibility with 10,11 &12 sp cassettes. I'm guessing the app is also a bit ropey....
I don’t see the issue in principle, but that’s more than a gx axs upgrade kit from the usual European sources!
