Hi all
Has anyone had any experience with Ali Express? If they say I am buying SRAM xx1 AXS, is that what I really am buying and should I expect it to work and will I have the usual manufacturer warranty?
Seems too good to be true.
Cheers
Yes.
Possibly.
Maybe.
No.
AliExpress are fine but SRAM will probably tell you to contact your retailer for any warranty claims (initially, at least).
Which is where you may have a problem.
Edit: I take it you're looking at the whole kit out of the many options in that listing?
Ali-Express are just an e-commerce platform like e-bay or Amazon. Depends on who the seller is - there are good ones and bad ones. Don’t expect any UK Warranty support.
Thanks all
I’ll have a further look at the seller and then probably just pay more in the UK 🙂
Think you may have just been looking at a cassette as the full kits are not cheap at all when I click them.
You’re right. It’s not the full group set. Full is more in line with uk price. Ah well 🤷♂️
Assuming it is genuine SRAM kit then it'll have the standard worldwide support, so any issues and you take it to a SRAM seller bike shop, they contact that country's supplier and away it goes. You may b charged for the time the shop spend removing/fitting the bit if you didn't buy it there though.
SRAM do a worldwide guarantee so doesn't matter which country or where it was bought as long as it is a genuine SRAM piece of kit.
Sorry, worldwide warranty, not guarantee!

The trouble with this being the UK warranty will be via the importer Fishers. When they ask for proof of purchase and you send your Ali express receipt via your local fisher account holder you can probably understand you won't be top of their priority list as you've under cut them and their dealer network whether they should legally deal with it or not 🤷♂️
I've only had positive stuff from Fisher but I've a mate who has bought plenty from Europe (as he lives on the mainland there) and when he has any problems whilst in the UK (with SRAM kit), it gets sorted out...so I'm reasonably confident that a worldwide warranty means exactly that - SRAM will provide warranty support wherever you are (providing you can get bike to a local dealer)...no doubt plenty other stories but from what I've seen, it works.
