The 8 speed Alfine on my Day one started crunching and slipping in gears 4 and 8. After much investigation, a strip down and re-lube I've come to the conclusion that there is damage to the pawls on the main drive shaft. I don't have the tools for a complete strip down and cant confirm this.
Now the electric shifting has started playing up. first the shift display screen wouldn't light up, nor would it change gear. It eventually started to work and showed a low batter warning. I then charged the unit and now get nothing, no screen, no gear shifting and non of the lights on the charge unit come on when plugged in.
Is the whole thing dead?
