i have had the original (horrible green)8 spd genesis io id quite a while now and love it .
anyone swung a leg over the 8 and the 11 and like to offer an opinion please

I don't think that there are many (non industry) people who have ridden the 11 speed alfine tbh! The 11 speed seems to be hitting the shops in January 2011, with the exception of preorders which will be fulfilled in the next month.
deertrackdoctor...can I ask, has the Alfine been reliable ? Does it make the back of the bike feel much heavier ?
no problems with my alfine.
The mechanic at the hub in the forest told me The hire fleet of io id,s at glentress did not cause much problems.

I hope the 11 speed will be a better spread of gears as i steeper climbs in the cheviots struggle on ths between gears
I thought a hub gear would be ideal for a hire centre but the fleet, when I looked this year, seems to have gone back to derailleur. Perhaps they had a job selling on the hub gear bikes and reverted for that reason?
