I've got an original series Yari in the wrong travel for the intended use.

I'd intended to simply swap the airshaft in the usual way but a quick look at J-Tech has left me confused.

Am I right that the Lyrik B1+ Debonair airspring assembly would do the same but with benefits?

Other than changing the travel, should I expect any noticeable performance improvement?

It does work better for most people. Softer start to the stroke without being too soft later on.

Cool, so more progressive due to the bigger negative spring is likely to feel plusher while not losing accuracy for the bigger hits.  That's pretty much what I thought/hoped for.  🙂

I've just fitted a 150mm debonair shaft to a new 2017 Yari as the travel was wrong so I needed to change the shaft anyway. I didn't ride it before so can't give a comparison, but I can say that it's very plush off the top for small bump sensitivity (much more so than Sweep on my other bike). Fork sucks down c5-10mm at rest. There is decent mid stroke support and 3 tokens have taken care of the ramp up for big hits. LSC set in the middle at +6 clicks. I quite like it.

I can see a query to J-Tech or TF Tuned, but how the hell do you figure out what Debonair air spring you need?

I've got a 2018 Yari RC 29" 160mm 110x15, and the changes talked about are exactly what (I think) I'm looking for with my fork. I can't figure out what version of air spring I need though. Anyone here know?

I 'think' with the Yari/Lyric forks it doesn't matter what version you have wheel size, etc, you just get the 160mm airshaft if you want 160mm travel (more variations with the Pikes). Probably worth checking with a suspension specialist though. Most places seem to be out of stock at the mo. I struggled to find one and got the last one from Kustom Bikes.

This (wheel size agnosticism with Lyrik/Yari) was what I thought too...

J-Tech seem to have stock up to 140 but be thin on the ground from there up.  I guess that says a lot about popularity of overbuilt forks at 'shorter' lengths!

I had a Pike shaft on back order but that's been pushed back from this week to end of July at earliest.

PSA: I got the 140 debonair shaft for my Yari from BIke24 £35 inc shipping - check and see if they have the one you need.

Upgraded my (2016?) Yari with the new airspring at £42. Extended fork from 120  to 140mm. Running Putoline SAE 4W forkoil with both compression & rebound fully off. Result - pretty much what mark90 said!

got a bit of a test ride in yesterday with the 140 debonair spring on my Yari and also concur with Mark90 - feels more reactive on the small chattery stuff, doesnt seem to negatively affect any other aspect of performance.

Glad it's not just me imaging some new shiny bit plasebo effect 🙂

yes, it's mainly the knowledge that there is a red anodised piston inside that has lead to this performance enhancement
