Currently trying to remove the air sleeve off a Fox RP23 (high volume boost valve) - without success.
I've slid off the outer high vol sleeve, but cannot get the main body to unscrew at all.
Tried wrapping with an inner tube for some extra purchase. Still nothing.
Anything I may have overlooked? Please say I'm not being a dafty...
Nope, they can be a bugger and I assume, as you're here, you've come to the conclusion that their must be a tiny little grub screw somewhere designed to hold it in place? Sadly there isn't.
My only tips:
1) make sure you're turning it the right way...
2) your frame is better than a vice for hold it whilst you work.
3) a strap wrench can help, get a big one.
4) try to maintain a constant pressure just shy of the point when the strap starts to slip rather than sharp movement, the straps tension will keep pulling on it, hold it for 15 mins if you have to, if that doesn't work gentle up the pressure till it starts to slip and the gently left off again pulsing pulsing on/off.
There's a lovely small crack when it finally lets go.
Cheers P-Jay.
Stuck it back in the frame, managed to borrow a strap wrench, and a short while later off it popped!
Much much easier back in your frame compared to clamping up on the worktop.
