I've had a Titus El Guapo 29er with RockShox Monarch RC3 shock from new (2015). I've never had a problem with the shock but I've always had to run it at >300psi (recommended max) due to my 'heft'.
I'm planning to spend a bit of money on the bike in the next month and the shock is (over)due a service and 'man maths' tells me I can deduct the service cost from any new shock.

Ideally I'd like something that I can run without exceeding max pressure. I would also quite happily swap it for a coil. Size is 190x51cm.

Any thoughts on suitable options?
(apart from laying off the pies)

I think you may struggle, in that the frame is asking a 51mm shock to provide 150mm of travel - notmally you'd use a 57mm or 63mm shock for that much travel. That means higher leverage, which fr a big rider means higher pressures.

How heavy are you, if you don't mind me asking? I run a 190x51 DPX2 on my G13, I need 260ish pressure for my weight but that's only 133mm travel.

It's 140mm travel, I think, but I agree it's quite a lot of leverage. I just bunged the numbers into a coil calculator and it comes out at ~750lb. I can't find a 750 x 2.0 spring either so that may rule out coil shocks.

I'm currently 106kg but even when younger and fitter, I was running 4 hour marathons at 96kg. I could certainly lose a few kg but I wonder if it's a basic design flaw. I guess a fair few people who bought the Large (like me) or XL frames would be ~100kg with kit.

Ok... 140mm isn't so bad, and we're similar weights, so a DPX2 might be suitable, even with that little bit more travel, you'd probably be at 300 though.

You're right on coils, they definitely won't work.

How about a Cane Creek DB Air, had one the same size and stroke on my Codeine way less pressure than when it had a rockshox monarch on it.

Another +1 for the Cane Creek DB air. I'm heavier than you yet run a lower pressure on my Rocket. Also gives you plenty of tuning options to get the bike riding how you want it. Don't be concerned about the amount of adjustments, the manual or app explains in simple terms what each one does and how to set it up.

I have to admit I'm tempted by the Cane Creek.
