Just getting all the camp gear ready for a festival in August and found the double air bed has had it. Any recommendations? Want some thing reliable that doesn't leak in the night. Mate at work was talking about the ones that inflate themselves but you need power for that and didn't really sound camping friendly.

We got a cheap one from Decathlon before going away last week and it was ideal. We'll have to wait to see how long it lasts 😉

Get the P300 - the smaller "double" must be tiny.

I've had 3 double air beds now and they all lose air overnight for the first couple of days. Something to do with changing air pressures I think I read somewhere?

They certainly lose pressure once they are on cold(er) ground

Whats an alternative to air then? At a sensible price?

For that sort of price (£18 for a bed, £6 for a foot pump), there isn't one.

Gelert every time for me, and yeah it will go softer over night, but you top it up, get one with an inbuilt footpump for this reason.

Yeah, I just top it up each evening with a foot pump. After 2 or 3 days it settles down.

We've binned off air beds after going through a few air mattresses, also had enought of all the attendant insulation to stop the air getting cold and condensing, we bought some Alpkit Wideboys, very happy, much better nights sleep.

I bought a air double one that has a motor & battery built in so you can charge it before you go. Works fine.

Not tried anything else, and airbeds are a bit shit, if them Alpkit things are reasonable them why not.

Coleman Comfort is the only one to go for, along with a seperate battery powered pump. Has two chambers so you dont roll together. We've had ours for years. Brilliant quality. In a different league to the rubbish from Asda/Argos etc.

takisawa2 coleman has been the strongest contender so far but seems to be luck of the draw wether you get a good one or not, suppose I'll just send it back and get another till we get one that doesn't leak. They seem to have very good customer service.

It was the Coleman Comfort double that we used to buy, went through 3, never got more than 3 seasons out of one. They can be pretty sturdy though, the remaining chamber of the last one we had was used as a trampoline by numerous kids for a 2 days straight and didn't pop.

Self powered air bed could be the aerobed active
