I'm thinking about heading to Afan/Glyncorrwyg for a ride tomorrow, but the MBWales website suggests that most of the trails on the Y Wal / Whites Level side of the valley are affected to some extent by trail closures and diversions. There are details about which bits of Y Wal are closed, but its pretty vague for the other trails. Can anyone shed any light on how much of Blade and Whites Level are shut and whether its currently worth making a trip over there? Thanks.

I was up there a few weeks ago for an after work spin and the guy in the shop told us that a fair amount of the west side of the valley was diverted. Might be worth giving them a ring for more detail.

This was all I could find when we went to Wales last month - we ended up riding Cwmcarn

Vaguely related, I was there in September and there were a few diversions on Skyline but the overall distance followed was the same as the "true route" so still worth the trip.

Thanks for the replies. Having spoken with the guys in Afan Bike Shed we had a great day riding Y Wal and Penhydd. Although the NRW website suggests major diversions and that you can't ride the final descent, it is possible to ride pretty much the full trail except Elevator. You just need to ride up the cycle path on the south (trail centre) side of the river, cross it at Cymmer and then head back along the north side of the river to meet the main bit of the climb. When you get to Bryn Bettws Lodge you can ride up the road to the left of the bike park, turning left up the walking trail at the cattle grid. This takes you to the start of Corker. Once in the bermed section of Corker keep an eye out for an old enduro trail heading into the forest on the right which drops you out at the top of Zig Zags. After that everything is ridable back to the trail centre. It was great to ride Y Wal again after many years, its still a lot of fun.

Penhydd and Blue Scar are fully open, as apparently is Whites Level. Blade has a few diversions as detailed on the MBWakes website.
