Thinking about W2 tomorrow, it's been a while since I've been to Afan, but I guess it's fairly 'all weather' - will it have survived this weekends drenching?

Is it a good run? Looks like a 19km 'descent' on the way back. Looking for a decent day ride really

W2 is my favourite ride at Afan and certainly one of the more weather-proof trails in South Wales. Y Wal runs better in the wet.

Love the descent on both Y Wal and Whites. Which was will you ride? Ywal incline first or Whites?

With a stop for coffee and cake half way round it normally takes up 4-5 hours for me. I dont rush the ascents but like to blast the descents.

We ran Y Wal to Whites and back - I think we underestimated the level of effort required to climb for an hour or so each way.

Monster fry up breakfast at the Cafe and then started the climb back up to the top.

It was quite a hard ride for us southern wimps, but had a blast all the same - decent drive back each way and we dodged the worst of the rain

Did W2 recently on a wet day, and the biggest problem was overgrown vegetation hanging over the trail here and there. Face-high brambles included. Got more wet from ploughing through that that from above.

Didn't feel like an 18km descent on the way back, but then I'd stopped feeling much except the water slopping around in my boots, so in fairer conditions it could be a lot better on all counts.

Save some energy for the Whites Level climb halfway through.
