Does anyone know whether they still do camping at Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre at Afan? Also is I know the dropoff cafe has closed, but is there still a cafe/bar there?

Haven't been for a couple years and planning a trip in a couple of weeks.

You can get beer at the miners bar / social club about 5 mins walk away.
Initially scary but a real nice bunch of locals. I quote:
Now boys if you are having a fag use the smoking hut, having a joint go to the garden benches, doing anything else then end of garden.

Campsite is still open, so are the washrooms (now £1 a shower). Cafe is due to open sometime soon, but wasnt when I was there last (early march)

I went in that miners social club a few years back (first visit to Glyncorrwg) and there was a Tom Jones styleeee bloke at the bar with shirt unbuttoned, hairy chest and gold medallion, priceless (wasn't said Welsh crooner however). Lovely bunch though, as were the rugby club (next on our "crawl") who were very welcoming and gave us free sausage/chips 🙂

(no euphamisms have been hurt in the writing of this post)

awesome, sounds like I am going to have to check out the miners bar!

I have tried emailing the campsite, but I get no response, not sure who is actually managing it now, it's all a bit out of date.

We always locked our bikes in vehicles and kept them well hidden when camping at Glyncorrwg, heard a few thefts took place, but you just have to careful wherever you go.

Miners Bar will ring the local chinese for you (who deliver) lay on plates, cutlery and a table if you buy their beer.

Think they have a whole host of other takeaways who'll also deliver as well..............

Over-ordered last time (hard days ride, no proper food, to knackered to drive anywehre) and ended up feeding the masses in the bar!!!

PS if you think the male locals are interesting, wait 'till it's ladies night in the bar - never seen, heard or expereinced anything like it 😯
