Having never been there before we are thinking of a ride the day before we go to BPW. Mainly for a bit of pedalling and countryside, nothing gnarly that could damage us before the main event. How is it- just wondering like. If it’s a bit of a mission might go for a hike instead.
Any other nice trails with nice views anyone can recommend?
The Gap, Brecons? Bit of a classic.
Afan has been dry lots of the time and will be riding brilliantly. It's honestly one of my favourite places on the planet to ride đŸ™‚
Weeksy is there a particular trail you would hit?
I did W2 last week and Y Wal was running very nicely. Glyncorrwg, on the other hand, is suffering from diversions, and the climb out of the centre (the start of Skyline and White's level) is hateful. The surface is draggy as anything so despite not being very steep it sucks energy out your legs, takes ages, and gives you little gradient for your effort. Might be OK on an E-bike.
y wal looks good, thanks pc
I love Afan; had a cracking ride there after a few years of only going to BPW. Loved Blade (which I have only done once) & Whytes Level, although I agree with the above comment - the climb up Whytes Level sucks.
Y Wall is a cracker - really fun descent and a reasonable climb, mostly up a fire road. Cafe there serves great food and there is a friendly shop - 'Afan-a-Blast'.
We rode at Afan last weekend. The trails were in absolutely perfect condition.
I can't say about the GC conditions , we didn't ride up there. The climb up from the valley bottom has always been a bit of a horrible experience tbh.
Great thanks everyone.
Rode 'new' skyline at the weekend, a couple of brief muddy sections but overall it was a hoot. Wet and gritty though.
Glyncorrwg climb...we did it Singlespeed so it's almost cheating with gears đŸ™‚
There was only one small diversion on Skyline.
If you want a shorter fun ride, head for Blue Scar from the trail centre further down the valley. Fast smooth and bermy.
Awesome thanks
