I went yesterday. The climb up on whites is ridiculous. My tyres were so clogged up with mud the wheels wouldnt move and the bike weighed a ton. It was so steep and slippy that I couldn't walk either. I had to carry my heavy mud laden bike up a steep slippery / unwalkable slope. It took me ages and I was seriously hacked. If I'd have known I'd have stayed on the wall.
Anybody else have any serious beef with the new whites climb? I was about to throw my bike in the hedge at one point!

The FC have made a detour to do some tree felling. They're cracking on with their work so hopefully the detour won't be in place too long- it really is a claggy horrible mess. You can use a fireroad to get to the top as an alternative.

I could do with a little advice on the climb detour.

Assume I'm parking at the Glencorwyg ponds and cafe, and then wanting to do W2 with the sexy new YWal bits. Where do I go?

Or is it better to start at The Afan Forest car park these days?

i have made a note of the mess on afan parks fb page and was told its been forwarded also about the lack of signage as u come out the top we spent about 30 mins on fire road only to find out we were heading the wrong way really ruind the ride really as there were more decents i wanted to get to but we were just worn out after the mud slog and hike a bike
altho if u climb up the grass bank at the start of the mud u get to a easy fire road to the same.place
