You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Quite tempted. Marginal gains and all that. Most of the big lid makers seem to have one out. Currently fancying a Bell Star Pro.
So who's got what and how do you like it?
I was looking at the CasCo lids but then I don't wear a helmet unless racing so seemed a bit pointless.
Some good prices on lids Kinetic
Specialized Evade - no way of quantifying if its actually faster but its really comfortable and there is much less wind noise than with my normal helmet
Evade always looks a bit funny when I see anyone wearing it, I think it's because it's so narrow.
FWIW my Bell Meteor II TT lid was way noisier than the Javelin that replaced it. The leading edges around the ears funneled the wind in.
No use for racing though Lazybike...
Giro Air Attack.
Absolutely love it. Comfortable, good cooling, quiet, amazing fit (on me anyway). Looks terrible.
Head down into the wind, I notice the difference. And every watt counts when you have as few as I do! My wife disowns me when I wear it, but they are pretty common now.
On offer. Avoid white 😉

I have a Louise Garneau Course, I'm not sure about the claimed aero benefits but it's the most comfortable helmet that I've owned and I like the looks. I no a couple of people with Giro Attacks and they just look too Tron like, they also complain that they are too hot.

Certainly does with the skull cap underneath!
Easier to find one to try than the Star Pro too.

Well obviously I can't comment on my competitor - I'm the handsome one being obscured by the sun 8) . The coloured versions don't look quite as awful.
I rationalise that it may look ridiculous, but it might just draw attention away from the skinsuit!
I have a POC Octal aero. I look like a giant orange mushroom- love it.
It is also very comfy and relatively light and offers a bit of extra protection compared to some.
I only bought it as it looked so silly, but after a while it looked too normal, so I bought a Tempor too.

White Air Attack actually looks pretty good with the POC shades!
I liked the POC Octal Aero, but it was double the price of the Giro when I was buying. the new black/red Giro might be a better kit match, and I like the visor - but have to wear Rx glasses. A clubmate races in a matt black cammo one too.
I also tried the Kask and _really_ wanted to like it, but found it uncomfortable by comparison. There is a new slightly less aero Giro Synthe, but you may as well go the whole hog in my opinion.
If you really want to save watts when racing get a skinsuit. Cheapest watts/£ available by some margin. TTists have known this for years. The helmet is a small incremental benefit. But they all add up.
Giro Synthe - the fit is spot on, the roc loc makes the helmet feel very secure,

Got all the gear already for TTs. Skin suits, shoe covers, etc.
Really not convinced about the attached visors. Ok in TTs but just look a bit silly for road racing.
Synthe looks a pretty good option. Don't they claim it's just as aero as the Air Attack?
Almost as aero is the claim depending on head angle. One thing about the visors; I raced with a junior on a grey day and he said he had trouble seeing out through his visor! Probably best for intimidation on the track - which was where I was thinking of wearing one. They come in several sizes. I'm a hat size 7 1/8 and wear a Medium. Although heavier than my Giro Prolight, it is imperceptible in use. It is that comfortable.
My Synthe should be arriving in a few days. I'm far too vain to go with an ugly looking lid!
No love for the Bell Star Pro? Think I just like the look of it from seeing on the Belkin boys during last years spring classics (yes, I know the photo is from the TdF!)...
... would have to be green though which would necessitate a new bike and riding wardrobe!
My Synthe has arrived. Lighter than my Ionos and still looks like a normal helmet too.
Nice. Fondled a Synthe in my lbs the other day. Quite fancy one now 🙂

Still not an option shirley... Hill climbs only.
Optional for CTT events
