Want to try some on my 2015 Defy to put my hands in a less stressed position as an old wrist injury makes one of my hands go numb after 10 miles or so. Also would like some with flat tops and bends to spread the load a bit, nothing to do with aero gains. I don't mind spending a bit on carbon for extra damping but then alloy might be an idea to trial first (actually are alloy bars with flat tops even a thing?). Also want a wide enough clamping area for a light and garmin mount either side of the stem. Any particular recommendations?

I’ve been using and liking the Roval Terra bar, it’s got a flat top and 12 degree flare with a nice bit of spring in the drops for comfort.

If alloy is your thing, try the Pro Discover in 12 degree. Stock is patchy but it’s a nice light bar with same features as the Roval without the Carbon spring in the drops.

I like the Zipp 70 XPLR (because 'Explore' obviously has too many vowels in).

I think they do a Service Course and SL models in Aluminium, plus a carbon model or two but all essentially the same profile so up to you if you want to spend £50 or £200 or somewhere in between.

Not super flared but enough to make a difference, flat/aero enough to have a nice extra hand position and short reach too.

Cheers, doesn't look all that flat though? I did see the Deda Superzero carbon gravel bars with a 16 degree flare for similar money

Reading more about it the Dedas look really good, I think I want more flare to angle my wrists and no outsweep, which is what they have. Big old flat bends to rest on as well

I think they're more "not round" than a full deep section aerofoil shape but from above they're quite flat (third picture on this listing shows the shape best):

Cheers @jfab - I was referring to the Roval but I'm crap at quotes! The Zipps have lots of outsweep and next to no flare which is the opposite of what I'm looking for (I think)

Although Merlin look to have sold out of 46cm, bah

The Rovals have got flat tops, not full on writing table but plenty to be ‘not round’, more so than the stock pictures would make you think.
