Thought I'd ask on here, gone through some old threads.
Instead of my initial thoughts of buying a Privateer 141 saw a Sentinel for sale but will need a respray/repaint.
Intention will be to send it off to a professional set up
Any pitfalls or things I need to consider?

For powdercoating, just make sure they have a reputation for bikes and will properly mask threads etc.
You should totally ask Bignose customs though aka @bigyim on here. He does amazing paint jobs 👌
He's got my fork lowers at the moment... can't wait to see them finished 🙂
If the frame is alloy make sure it’s not being sandblasted to remove the old paint. It’s better to be chemical dipped - and the powdercoater also should run the oven thing at a temperature lower than that of the alloy heat treatment after the frame welding or it could weaken it.
What's the current rust prevention?
I've waxoyl in mine and it's supposed to be a bugger to remove prior to a respray.
And if it's not removed it'll bugger up the new coat.
@bigyim did my 7 year old carbon road bike recently and it looks ace. He's also going to be getting my new steel FS front end when it arrives.
Your best bet is to try and find someone with a reputation for powder coating bikes locally. They'll then know what they are doing.
In Newcastle I use Bettablast and they are superb. Understand the stripping and surface prep that's best, do a really good job of masking and get a good finish.
For paint it's more of a skill, just because you have the kit doesn't mean you get the results. There are people/companies that will do it but they are often pricey compared to basic powdercoats. Bigyims on here look good, I hear good things about Argos. I'm sure their others.
Personally I'd not bother with rust prevention on the interior. Its a relatively low corrosivity environment. Again talk to your painter. Removing greases and waxes should be something they are capable of doing. It's standard paint practice (ISO12944-4:2017)
Thanks everyone for their kind words about me. Makes me blush.
I tend to go chemical dip over sandblasting as it removes any corrosion and seems More gentle on the threads.
Then I tend to lightly cavity wax the interior of the tubes with a long pokey probe just for my own piece of mind that I’ve done all I can to make the job last
