Live near Delamere and need to get the Alfine 8 hub off my commute bike (Trek Soho - no s****ing please, its fine for roads, queue jumping, kerbs, steps, canal towpaths, etc... Just a bit of a lump up hills) serviced/overhauled.

Does anyone know who services Alfine hubs locally, how much and do you have to take the whole wheel in or is there a canny way to slip part of the hub out?

Thanks.

Nic

Thanks for that Macavity.

I can quite clearly see how these things work now and that I can extract part of the hub to be sent away for a service. Equally it's clear to me that my mechanical (in)competence means a disaster looms if I were to attempt any further disassembly - visions of springs and sun gears spread across the garage for many months to come 😳

I'll give my LBS a call.
