Hi all,

I am after some advice on how to go forward with an issue with my Voodoo Hoodoo 2016. I currently need to replace my chainset due to excessive wear and it shaping its to my old chain! When I try and fit a new chain and cassette the rear derailleur is skipping somewhat, and I had this issue previously in 2018 I had the chainset replaced by Halfords along with a bottom bracket.

When I initially collected the bike from Halfords it would not shift to the smallest chain ring. I took it back for what I thought would be an adjustment and the Halfords worker (a different one) said it looks to have the wrong BB fitted when they did the replacement job, so they had the bike back in and fitted a BBUN 73 x 118 square tapered bb (according to the specs it should have had a 113mm by default) and what I thought looked to be a new front derailleur, I was a bit green to it all and thought that it all came with the new chainset as part of a kit.....

I'm now looking to replace the chainset again and trying to source a replacement online but noticed that on the receipt they have billed me for a SR Suntour CW13 XCT-T312. When I look at the specs of this it's for a 24 speed bike and mine is a 27. Would that make a difference? I'm struggling to find that particular Suntour chainset available anymore and I'm wondering what is a viable alternative?

Many thanks
Steve

This would be suitable I think:
Other shops sell them
Have you considered using a different t bike shop?

If it's a threaded bottom bracket, then you could swap it for something like a shimano hollowtech one. I've just done the same on an old boardman.  If your budget allows, go for something with replaceable bearings (I went for uberbike at £32). You'll obviously need a compatible crankset, but there are plenty of options new and second hand at a range of prices.
