Im planning a road trip to several Welsh Trail centres with a friend in late May. My current bike is a Specialized Pitch,. which has been customized to suit more DH style of riding (heavy duty wheel set, coil rear shock) and whilst I will be taking it along for some DH runs I want a hard tail bike which will suit trails in Afan, Coed Y Brenin, Llandegla etc.
I have a budget of around £1200 and my requirements are something with decent travel (120mm min, more really) and strong (im 15 stone).
Ive been toying with the idea of building a bike, as I cant find what im after really, and have been looking into frames like the Ragley Blue pig/piglet, the cotic BFe and Soul. My questions are, will 1200 be enough to build a decent specced hardtail based around a frame like these, or should i go off the peg, and if so, what?

Any help would be greatful.

Pete

1200 is plenty for a hardtail. If you don't mind second hand you can get a awesome bike.

I built up a ti ragley I got off here all in I reckon it owes me about 1k. The only part I bought new though were a set of xt brakes.
You can get some really nice stuff off here and build your own dream bike for very little cash!

The 455 Evo looks like a good choice, i'll look into that a bit more.

Ive had a look at 2nd hand and am open to suggestion. I bought my Pitch 2nd hand and have been really pleased with it.

Thanks for the help so far.
