Hi all,

Is it necessary to let the air out of the post before flying or will it be ok as it is?

Nope - old wives tale nor do you need to take air out of anything else. I have reverb and been abroad twice, I just slam it all the way down. The cargo hull is preasuired!

Uses hydraulics anyway. Planes use hydraulics - go figure...

True, but plane hydraulics are designed for use at high altitude whereas hydraulic seat posts are not......

There's a slight increase in relative pressure when you put inflated stuff in the hold. When your fat arse lands on it from a botched tabletop there's a MASSIVE increase in pressure. It should handle the plane 🙂
