2 different bike shops have told me different d u bushing replacement options.
Lbs said that it has to be sent off to specialized to have the whole shock serviced at a cost of £120. The other at Afan said you can just replace bushing at minimal cost as these can go in 6 months.
I don't live anywhere near Afan unfortunately.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Friendly bunch who do shock bushings etc. some with nice roller bearings in too!
It's cheap enough to buy a new bushing so I'd do that first.
get a shock bush tool (make sure its the correct size, I think its 12mm or 12.7mm, depending, someone with the correct info will be along in a minute ) from ebay for 6 quid and do it yourself takes minutes.search ebay here.
In fact one of those is sold by Kael - user kasae here so he will be a font of wisdom. I liek the look of hsi tool, at 14.99, looks V solid.
And this one for 9.99 will include two du bushes.
I've always done mine with various sockets and recently used the inside bolt thing from a shimano freewheel, which was the perfect size as recommended by a wise person on here.
Just in case this makes any difference, it a 2006/07 stuntjumper, last of the full M5 frames, with the specialized asr shock and brain.
Thanks for replies so far 🙂
Serving the whole shock as per your LBS is worthwhile, and will potentially extend the it's life & give you it's best performance. ALso it guarantee's that Spesh will replace it under warranty if there a issue with it down the line. They have set service intervals to remain under warranty, miss them and you end up buying a new shock if the current one goes wrong (not hugely likely but a risk).
Getting just the bushing done is the bare minimum & can be done at home with a £10 tool and some £2 bushing or bodged with a set of old sockets.
