So I'm taking Mr S away for his 30th birthday next weekend, heading up to Aviemore area for the week. I'm a roadie and so is he, although he had an MTB which he enjoyed a few muddy outings on until it was stolen. So I'm looking for advice
where should we go?
where's good to hire bikes from?
Both up for getting wet and muddy on the way round, but neither of us tried anything too technical before.
Get in contact with Bothy Bikes - ace shop and they will sort you out.
Badaguish XC course is just a short ride outside Aviemore.
Loads of great trail centres within easy driving eg Strathpuffer and Learnie are just a bit north of Inverness. Laggan is about an hour away.
If you fancy a 7km downhill XC course, Golspie is about 2 hours away.
Plenty of bridleways around Aviemore, quite easy to string a nice loop together or out and back.
For nice views, head North to Loch Vaa:

I'd avoid Loch an Eilein at the weekend though - too many walkers/kids.
