Evening STW Massive,
I have a V1 Tripster and want to add some Blackburn cages on the forks. Unfortunately unlike the V3 version there are no mounts on the forks. 🙁
So what options has anybody used on this fork particularly or something similar. Just to add the other awkward aspect is there is not 1 flat face on it and it tapers from the top to the bottom, so there are no constant sections on it
ta in advance
Personally I'd sell the forks and buy some with the mounts on.
Some people have drilled carbon forks for mudguards but I'm not sure they have done it to carry weight.
Free parable Gorilla Clips and cages might work?
Innertube round the forks and jubilee clips? I used inner tube and some zefal
cable tie bottle boss things to put cages on my tapered aluminium forks for bottles. Worked well, but jubilee clips would be better, dunno about carbon though.
Ideas here
I'm happy riding a carbon fork that is used as it's as designed to be used
I personally wouldn't strap anything to a carbon fork. A guy on here wore his Bronson to the weave strapping an inner tube to his frame
I wouldn't crush a carbon fork with a curclip or anything similar
The structural component I least want to fail is the fork
IMHO if there was ever a cycle component best made from steel then surely its the luggage carrying fork
Sounds like it may be large gamble
The baryak ones look good but big money and still potentially have all the issues you mention above.
I di think about making a bracket that picked up on the mudguard top centre line bolt and another on the lower mudguard bolt hole. That way I could use one of those wolf tooth B-RAD 4 to pick up on the top and bottom brackets and not clamp the carbon fork.
The other option I suppose is to look to use the rack mounts on the top of rear seat stay in a similar manner.
Time to do some thinking and get back to the drawing board

been looking at this as planning a long tour and am undecided on bike to take...brain says touring bike with all the mounts...heart says my On One BishBashBosh because its fun to ride...guy here lived long enough with Free Parable Gorilla Clips on a carbon fork to at least write a review...though I'm not sure seems possible adding a lots of extra unknowns to a part that is critical not a good idea...would love someone who designs forks to chip in...

I'd have a go at this and maybe supplement it with some zip-ties (I doubt you can totally rely on those guard mounts alone for load bearing). Tripster V1 fork is QR right? Maybe see if you could use a longer skewer and pick up on the front axle for better support?
Cheap old Nylon chopping board would be my choice for hacking something together.
While The Gorilla Cage and adaptor looks a good solution, the system as a whole ain't cheap for what it is, and if it's for a single trip you could Helitape the legs and attach a cheaper plastic cargo cage (Topeak 'Versacage' or make your own?) and just zip-tie it to death...
Are you looking to mount luggage on both legs?

yes I was, I was looking to use my Blackburn Cages and Apidura fork packs
Tripster V1 fork is QR right?
Yip it QR
On my Sonder carbon fork I've mixed the single mudguard/low rider mount with a strap on decathlon bottle mount. Seems to work just fine. I don't tend to carry too much weight on the forks.

The problem I have is the only mudguard mounting point is the lower one near the QR 🙁
Your mid height one would have been ideal
I'd probably get something designed for the job, albeit ampthills stuff is a bit fearmongering.
Not needed to try this myself yet but apparently electrical tape makes a secure bodge mount
