Hi has anyone come across an adaptor you can fit on a straight steerer so it'll fit in a headset for tapered forks?

I'd like to be able to fit some old shorter coil forks I have with a straight steerer in my hardtail at times instead of the Pikes I've got in it for messing about at the BMX track/pump tracks with my kids.

Long shot I know but thought someone might have produced this!

Cheers

Hope do one. I have one sitting spare in a box somewhere!

More usefully, you are able to add an angle adjustment headset. I also have one of those sitting in a box somewhere....

Cheers Jon.  Is that just for using with Hope Headsets or does it fit to the fork steerer increasing it's diameter to that of a tapered steerer?

I've just fitted Superstar's Slackerizer headset and once I'd build up the bike (old 26" Switchback) I realised I could run a shorter fork for messing about due to the higher bottom bracket than modern frames.

I’ve used one of the hope adapters. They work great with any headset.

Google: hope-tapered-1-5-reducer-crown

at CRC

Reducer crowns are generally what you need but may be specific to the headset. Depends on the lower bearing and seals if any.

Hope HS136, it's a steerer expander rather than a crown race reducer. Will work happily with any headset. Best go for a headset with a split crown race though to reduce the faffage when changing forks.

I use hope hs136 on two bikes to do what you ask OP, both with none hope headsets...work great but, just to make it easier to insert/remove, i hacksawed a slit through the side of them to make them split adapters
