Recently moved here well to Altham just wondering if there is any good riding round here.

Don't have access to a car unfortunately. Been for a spin along the Canal towards Blackburn and out towards Hapton/Burnley and the Greenway towards Baxenden.

Any decent riding about road and mtb.

To the north (Simonstone and pendle) and south of you yes. Nothing that close though. Edenfield has some great trails (look on strava/youtube) thats around 8 miles or so away.

There is quite a bit of "cheeky" off road around Hapton and quite a few decent descents of Hameldon Hill, I don't have any GPX routes but simply head up from the Hapton Inn and over towards Rossendale sailing club at Dunnockshaw, do a loop and head back the same way down the Fairy Steps, I wouldn't advise this after heavy rain though 😉

Ouch! There are a few "naughty" parts to catch you out, as you say good trail!

Get in touch with Blackburn Bikers, they don't operate a website any more since the attack by the same blackmailer who attacked Boggies a couple of years ago but they do have a Farcebook page and they run weekly meet-ups in exactly your area so you will learn new routes.

For routes starting near you and inspiration visit this excellent website by a chap who lives in Accrington:  http://www.idonohoe.com/#

On the road, head north!  From Whalley you can set off west, east or north and enjoy miles of fantastic quiet roads, flat or hilly, on the Fylde or the Ribble valley and Bowland Fells and even into the Dales.

Ah Accrington! I grew up there and been riding my mtb there since the mid 90's. Still have family so get back now and then.

The Coppice used to be ok but then they resurfaced everything so lost alot of interesting bits. Going up to Hambledon as mentioned a good option. There are wee bits that link together from the canal, round Church, Rishton then Great Harwood. Also I strung a route along canal then Oswaldtwistle and factory bottom. Altham is handy for Pendle.

To be fair its mainly bits of singletrack, double track and nothing too challenging but its OK for getting out. For better riding get train to Burnley for Mary Townley loop, Hebden Bridge and Horwich for Rivington. Further afield you are spoilt - Lakes, North Yorks Dales, Gisburn forest.

Get in touch with groups mentioned to help expand your choice with a lift. Road options are ecellent as globalti said
