Group of 5 of us are planning to go to Nice to watch the TDF next July but we’re struggling to find any accommodation that’s not silly expensive with availability.

Anyone know any French independent websites that might advertise places? Thinking it might be worth trying these over the usual booking.com / Airbnb etc.

Cheers!

I think you'll struggle, especially as it's the Nice - Col de la Couillole stage being used for the Etape.

Same situation here, wanting to go out and watch some of the Tour but Nice isn't the place to do it! It's not cheap at the best of times but TdF in the area is an excuse for everyone to hike the prices.

Thinking of signing up for the etape when it opens tomorrow, and I guess lots of places to stay outside Nice. But 7 July is 2 weeks before the finish so wondering when OP is thinking

In the past have used the AvignonetProvence site which is good for finding places to stay

Thanks, will take a look. We’re just there for the weekend so 19-22nd July (Fri-Mon) - riding not likely unfortunately

I'm doing the etape. Looked at accommodation in Nice. Can confirm, is expensive. London kind of prices.

Nice in July is never going to be cheap, all those fancy hotels on the sea front are there for a reason.

But if you are going to watch the tour don't forget you get a stage start, a climactic itt, and a cool town to walk around. You don't often get that.

You should try leboncoin.

French classifieds, similar to craigslist, what gumtree appears to have become in the UK etc.

My old house got sold via. there, and I bought my new house via. it as well.

Have regularly used it to find holiday rentals etc.

We've rented a flat via booking.com in Villefranche-sur-mer - its one stop outside nice on the train. Its 2 bedroom and i think it was about £600 for 3 nights. We'll arrive Friday, see the start in Nice on Saturday, and be around for the time trial Sunday before flying home on the Monday.

Have look just outside Nice and see what you can find which is an easy run in on the train.
