Hi all -can anyone offer advice on a reputable company who won't try and pocket a big chunk of any damages?  I had shockingly poor advice and treatment by Irwin Mitchell many years ago, and don't want to make the same mistake again!

I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice of no-win, no-fee lawyers out there, and wondering if any of the cyclingUK/BritishCycling schemes are worth looking at?  Not currently a member, and not sure if they only offer advice if you were a member before the accident (I'm guessing maybe that's the case - seems reasonable).

Thanks all....

The only thing I can say is don’t use Gladstone Brooks. Sorry I can’t be more help. Good luck

Thanks - with hindsight I should have asked for warnings too!

so so you want no win no fee, without them taking a chunk of any payout.  Can you see an issue there?

do you have any legal cover on any insurance policy, professional memberships, unions etc?

Check your house insurance, you may have cover through that.

I had good service from Irwin Mitchell, tho the house insurance paid their fees so I got 100% of the settlement. It was a pretty clear cut case though so not much scope to go wrong really.

Thanks all.  And yes poly, I see the issue with 'no-win, no-fee and lawyers not taking a chunk', which is why I added the word 'big' 😉
