If you thought the government U-turn on selling off the Public Forests in England was the end of the matter it isn't.
The Government announced an Independent Panel on Forestry and charged it with advising on the 'future direction of forestry and woodland policy in England'.
Trouble is this Panel is stuffed with people from the private sector and charities and there is no-one on it who opposed the sell off; furthermore the representation from recreational groups is limited to the Ramblers Association and there is no-one on it who represents cycling/mountain biking.
The Panel wants input from the public by 31st July (9 days time) so
read my post 'Sending Views to the Panel' for how we can keep the pressure on maintaining access.
Wow. That does not sound good. This deadline seems to have crept up as well!
I've messaged people about this to get things rolling. Let's get the momentum going again!
Who do you expect to support us as a group?
When IMBA UK was formed no-one wanted to know. There used to be a button for IMBA on this very site at the request of a minority of people a few yrs back.
There is CTC but everyone thinks they just run the odd event for the yellow/purple jacketed tourers.
BC & SC are not interested because they are only interested(funded)in the "sport" side of things
mtbers in general do not want to join clubs or organisations.
Therefore that leaves us with 💡
