I mean, can I just pop off the hub adapter on the nds of the rear hub to get to the cartridge bearing seal to pump some grease under it? Or do I need to get a bit moor involved.... Just need a quick temporary fix.
Cheers guys.
You'll need some sort of angled fine point pick to pop of a rs seal of the bearing when it's in the hub, flushing out old grease with only one seal off is tricky, use spray grease or silicone spray not wd40/GT85 as it could end up working its way deeper into the hub. I doubt you can get the seal off without damage, it's best done with a needle or scalpel at a slack angle out of the hub, but if bearing is already gritchy there isn't much to lose.
I'm pretty good with picking seals off luckily as I almost always pack new bearings with marine grease. I use a cheap dental pick I got off eBay.lol
With this it's more about the access to the seal with hub assembled. So I should be able to get to the seal with the bearing in place and just the hub axle adapter removed you think?
Cheers for the help mate.
No experience of the pro 4, but with pro 2 if you've got that far you might as well pop the bearing out, it's prob easier
True but looking for a quick fix. For moment anyway.lol
Yup, just pull off the NDS end cap, there is a polo shaped seal the end cap sits snugly into, remove this and then the bearing will be in plain sight. You can then just do as you wish, pop off the seal, grease it up, and put everything back as it was.
Job done, drink beer
Cheers Carlos, thanks for the info!👍
