Heading up to fort William for weekend silliness. Thought we'd stop off at aberfoyle. What's to ride?
Happy with thornielee levels of steepness.
Casio, Rodeo, Dirty Ramen are all good. Nimmos into one of the Bats. Boogie Line into Log Jump is a fun finish, we pedal up the fireroad rather than the more direct climb.
Big Naturals on the other side is good fun too.
Erm, that really ^
If you like Thornilee, you will like Aberfoyle.
Fort William - are you doing the Macavalanche? If not worth noting uplift is expected to be very busy and there will be trail closures and diversions on Saturday.
We were planning a trip over but have decided to postpone for a few weeks.
Kinlochleven and/or Laggan might make a good alternative on Saturday and then uplift on Sunday (weather dependent) - or maybe it won't be that bad at Nevis Range on Saturday.
Aye macavalanche. I might still be making my way down on Sunday depending on route. 😄
If you're after Thornielee steepness, maybe Dunkeld instead?
The butcher's does a good steak roll

Have you ridden Aberfoyle? It’s like the Tweed with 50% of the grip removed. Of course Dunkeld is great though
Golden owl is class as well! Agree that Aberfoyle is way harder than the Tweed IMO.
I've watched enough videos of Aberfoyle mountain biking to realise that it's rather slippery and very probably above my skill level.
Let us know how you get on.
I've ridden around Aberfoyle a few times over the years so know that there is plenty there. But have been a bit intimidated by the muddy, rutted toboggan runs of trails that I seen ridden in the videos by very competent riders. I'll get around to riding them eventually, that's what I bought my Hello Dave for. Steep stuff. Thanks for the words of advice though.
Yeah had a quick blast wouldn't say harder than tweed valley just different. Mind we kept it slow and steady.nimmo was fun.
Good butchers too.
One Hundreth Idiot:
What did you ride? How were the conditions? I might head up tomorrow…
I went there a few years ago and just followed my nose which was a bad move as the first trail I went down was Shirley's...it was quite dry but my eyes were on stalks!
