You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
In just over 3 weeks I'm going to have 2 full days In aberfeldy. If it’s anything like where am in North Yorkshire it’s unlikely to dry out in that time, where in that area tends to ride better in the wet?
I’m looking for fairly big days (for me! So 4000-5000ft ish climbing) winch and plummet off piste “enduro” type riding
I was intending on one full day at glassie bike park, does ride alright in the wet?
Ideally want to keep it localish so Pitlochry or dunkeld?
Cheers
James
Locals will be better equipped to answer, but I still have nightmares about riding Pitlochry in the wet. Cathro's track in particular (when it was new).
Plenty of options at Dunkers. Keen to check out Glassie myself.
Dunkeld has stuff that will hold up well/better in the wet. Pitlochry less so.
The guy from Glassie is active on IG, although he has been stressing it's not shut it does seem to be very wet from the photos and it is better dry or drier..
I was up there last Thursday minus bike, probably the only dry day that week and it was still really wet underfoot around Weem. Heading up for a few days again with the bike towards the end of the month. Hoping for better weather then. Even in the wet though, top of the world runs well.
I was at Glassie Oct last year and some trails were closed or unrideable (10cm deep mud that was like clay). To be fair they had a large squad working to improve drainage so maybe it’s improved since. But left me thinking id only be back in Spring/summer.
Judging by the rain this week and today - mainly moist...and according to eldest, the clay/soil can be like ice there.
Better to go somewhere with some trails that hold up in the wet - Comrie or Laggan maybe.
I wouldn't worry too much just now, it could dry out a lot in three weeks at this time of year. I mean it probably won't. But it might.
Was going to say the same as stevenmenmuir. I was up on Speyside at the weekend and it was pretty dry, courtesy of sun and wind. Will be wetter now I should think. I’d be asking three days in advance, not three weeks.
