You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
We are off to visit friends on Deeside in couple of weeks, and would like to fit in a ride or 2 with the kids. Which Deeside/Aberdeen trails will be accessible to a 7 and 5 yo? They can cope with Loch an Eilein, GT Blue, Callendar Estate trails, I just don't know the area. We can help them along on fireroad style climbs. The 5 yo will struggle with sustained singletrack climbs.
Aboyne or Tarland trails are supposed to be family friendly although i've not been.
+1 on Tarland trails http://www.tarland.org.uk/tarlands-trails/trail-routes/
Aye Aboyne Bike Park or Tarland Trail are good for the little ones. If you wanna take them trail riding Cambus O May or Burn O Vat have a few shared use paths that signed and are good fun too. You also have the Deeside Way that runs along from Ballater to Aberdeen if you just want a flatish ride along with some cafes and Ice cream stops....
Cheers all, that info is perfect.
Glenlivet - blue, pump track and (maybe, opened since I last visited) skills loop should all suit.
Great cafe too.
It’s a bit out of Aberdeen but a nice drive.
If you're close to Aberdeen itself then Countesswells forest has some easy trails for a quick spin. Also possible to link to the Deeside cycle route via Hillhead road (no traffic to speak of). Let me know if you want some route files. Lots of trails in Kirkhill forest too, not tried them with the kids yet as they're quite hilly....
Glenlivet, Aboyne and Tarland all good. I think the Glenlivet trails are most extensive.... blue route is about 9km and was perfect for our 51/2 yr old. But as mentioned its a bit a drive from Aberdeen/Deeside.
cheers
