I'm always on the lookout for any bargain 29er forks that may pop up from time to time (and they rarely do).

On One have two 29er forks for sale, the QR Reba RLT for £510 (ouch) and then the Maxle Equipped Reba RL for £249.99!!!!! Aaarrrgghh. I've got 3 29ers and i can't fit these to any of them. Bummer. 🙁

Goes to show what markup is on forks as if anything the tapered would cost more to manufacture? I know it's a supply and demand thing it's just annoying to see things so cheap when you can't use them. Maxle 29er forks are like hens teeth in the UK (especially for this kind of money). It's almost worth buying a set to keep for the future if all headtubes are going to go this way?

So.......PSA if you have tapered a head tube - bargaintastic. Just a bit depressing if you haven't.

That is all. 🙂

Steve have you seen this thread, would any of your bike headtubes suit it?

(it makes my brain ache trying to understand it TBH)

Chumba HX2 29er takes a tapered fork!

I ordered one a couple of weeks ago but it hasn't turned up yet due to me asking a neighbour to receive it for me, then when it arrived he had forgotten my surname and turned it away. it is now stuck in limbo somewhere!

I asked Simon at progressive to chase it up for me but no luck so far 🙁

Lets be honest, if you have one of the few 29ers that can have a tapered headtube you probably have a tapered fork

PePPeR, get and order one of those bolt through tapered steerer Reba's from On One for £249... Your old 29er Reba's will easy fetch £150 on here or ebay, the difference in stifness between the newer forks, with the 20mm and the tapered steerer, is enormous! Quick £100 quid upgrade (and a new front hub/wheel I suppose) that would be well worth it...

Part of the deal with Simon was getting a Hope Headset to fit my old Rebas into!

If I start upgrading, Fork, Wheel and another Headset it'll soon get pretty expensive!

I've already had to buy a new Bottom Bracket today as all the ones I have hanging around are 68mm not 73mm!

Oh and YAY! my Frame is on its way again!! Better get round to Johns and ask him to remember my surname this time! 😉

LOL, get with the times, buu some HT2 cranks that come with a BB with spacers so you can fit to either 68 or 73mm BB's.

On the headset, it'll only be the crown race that's different from a 1 1/8th fork to the tapered one, all you'd need was a different crown race.

No! :p

I'll stick with my ISIS shonky bottom brackets for the time being!

If I wanted to get all new, I'd just buy a complete new bike, but most of my kit is still good, no need to buy new, when the parts I have are still good!

For instance my old Magura Martas still blow away most of the new brake systems, I've serviced them, put new seals in them and put a new hose on the rear brake. They've still got plenty of life in them yet!
