Couldn't decide whether do attempt lord of loops in the peak today or do family stuff. Felt guilty and faffed loads
Eventually got approval for cycle ride but left it late. Just about to set off.
Stupid compromise that helped nobody.

Anyone know how late mg it'll take?

I'm trying to kid myself 10 hours, but 14 is probably closer to the mark. At which point all the shops will be shut.

Fool

It's showing as 9000' in 66 miles, I managed 10000' in 75 miles recently in 10.5hrs of ride time. Ultimately I guess "how long" depends on how fast. Enjoy!

Let us know how it goes.

Hmmm.limited progress so far. Started in hayfield. Currently only 22km in at Castleton. Thankfully there is food availablr. Have a horrible feeling it's the last food for 60 km.

Ho hum

By my calculations you’ve made it back - unless you stopped for food. How was it (the ride, not the food)?

Eek no. If only 'twere true. I'm now sheltering in the old blocked railway tunnels under the A628. It's pissing it down. Can't believe they have internet in here😉😈😁

I started in birch vale so still have 25km or so to go.
Just about to tuck into my last peppersalami, lettuce, mayonnaise and Tabasco sandwiches. And my bottle of coke, which it still chilly chilly chilly due to the 500ml frozen bottle i put in the cool bag this morning.

Ooh I do like my food.

How's your Sherpa getting along - have you offered him any?

Ooft. Misleading thread title, thought for a minute you'd bought a gravel bike.

Aint that the truth. In the end there were a fair few places selling food along the way, but I didn't know that before I set off. I think the Sherpa carried:
Can of Sprite
Bottle of coke
3 Ham sandwches
4 Salami sandwiches
1 kg of ice
apple juice
Dr Pepper
Strawberry laces
2 kit kats
4 cereal bars
Hula Hoops
water bottle

I ate all of it apart from the cereal bars
Also had a coffee, lovely slice of apple and caramle cake and an ammmmmmaaaazing roast pork, crackling, stuffing, apple sauce, gravy roll in Castleton.

Was a heavy load. Every time we approached a major uphill I would turn round to look at my companion and he was Tensing....

2800m according to Strava, 4022 according to the book. No idea which is right.

Good effort. Hope you get a some tlc at home. I struggle to get out too

In support of the missus, she's very supportive. The problem was all me, faffing about.

Hope you have lights 🙂

Yep, Tensing had them, along with spare batteries etc. Only needed them for the last two sections though from Glossop to Hayfield

Shameful. You forgot the deck chairs and fold-up table. 🙂

I don't think I'd get up my road with that lot on my back, so all credit to you!
