Ebay listing for DT Swiss carbon forks (link below) says...

"There is a small hairline crack (see pic) around where the stem fits but this is hidden when fitted and does not pose any structural issues."
Looks like a crack in the steerer at the level of the crown race in the photos (might need to zoom in).

Surely a crack at the level of the crown race poses huge structural issues doesn't it?

My guess is that they don't have a degree in structural engineering, but do want to sell the forks 🙂

I'd be happy to buy them and trim the top few cm off the steerer but I'd be worried about it propagating down the tube over time.

looks like someone overtightened the expanding bung!

listing says its a 200mm steerer might be OK if you can live with a ~170mm steerer, but if the previous owner is a hamfisted bodger who's already bolloxed the top of the steerer tube, you just dont know what other damage those forks are carrying...

From the bottom of the listing:

Preloved Bikes is an online used bike shop, specialising in providing quality used mountain bike components at a fraction of their new cost - buy with confidence and in the unlikely event that you are not happy with an item, simply take advantage of our 14 days return policy!

I can find very little evidence of "Preloved Bikes" having any online presence other than this ebay account, I'd not be shocked to discover its actually a 15 year old flipping stuff obtained from various classified via fleabay... if its a legitimate business, seems a bit Mickey Mouse TBH...

I'd say avoid this one...
