Tom Cauldwell's latest epic of some great riding in classic winter conditions, absolutely brilliant!!

For those that like to change their bike regularly, best advice is to learn to ride like these nutters first!!

Enjoy

Well it sounds interesting but you will need to do better than that link wise

Thought it was OK, basically a 25 minute version of a YouTube clip.
Not sure what your comment about people changing their bike is getting at? They're some of the best riders in the country, they're meant to be better than us! and they're all on top of the range bikes

Watched it yesterday as soon as I got home from work, was pretty excited to watch, plugged in laptop to television made a cuppa, got the chocolate digestives . . . and was somewhat underwhelmed.

I enjoyed it, but there wasn't a massive amount of variety for 25 minutes. Didn't seem to be a massive difference from the videos of the mid-late nineties.

If that's the riding style to asprire to then no wonder our trails get ruined so fast.

There's some good riding but it wore thin pretty quickly for me. I got half way through then gave up, there's only so many times I can watch someone ride round a corner fast and ragged.

Worked better as the series of shorts that got released IMO.

It's like a 25 minute long 'insta-banger' (I think is the youth term).

Lots of very fast riders getting loose, doing stupid gaps & having some crashes.

It kinda made my brain hurt.

Didn't seem to be a massive difference from the videos of the mid-late nineties.

I think that's the point - people seem to love the old Sprung stuff & Dirt videos, rather than a polished Red Bull Productions video.

@HobNob, the thing is I'd rather just watch Dirt/Chainspotting on YouTube. Think there was more variation as well. The music is better too...

A Red Bull style video was what I was hoping for, progressive riding with polished filming and editing but filmed in miserable UK conditions with those riders. We get a constant stream of short edits from the riders, so it would have been good to see something a little more 'professional'.

Imagining this spoken in a "Only me!" Harry Enfield style voice!

Thrashing bikes doesn't ruin trails.

Think we're saving it for our group holiday to Italy, where it'll be a welcome contrast to all those dry, dusty, rock-strewn trails.

I think Tom Caldwell is a breath of fresh air after years of this...

A Red Bull style video ... with polished filming and editing

Judgement reserved however.

I am in the minority then, I liked it...

People actually riding, pushing hard on trails and enjoying it, not all stoney faced seriousness and endless slow-mo of people nailing sundrenched trails that you'll never ride, and importantly omitting the twenty attempts where they made a bollox of it...

Seeing people having fun, and not afraid to fall off is ten times better as an advert for MTBing than some redbull sponsor fest.

it would have been good to see something a little more 'professional'.

More 'professional' productions are available, nothing wrong with a 'bit of rough' IMO.

Edit:

Oh and:

no wonder our trails get ruined so fast.

Do Bore off "trail boss"...

Gotta be in my top 3 MTB vids pretty easily.

The polished professional stuff is far to corporate and faceless for me.

Mucking about in the woods is what it's about.

Had the feel of a BMX/skate bid, similar and awesome soundtrack.

My cup of tea. Got me excited enough to go out in the filth and get loose.

I find Tom Caldwell's videos excellent.

Aye, big budget stuff is not my cup either. Went to see one that had some Canuck trying to jump a train for most of the film. Guff.

Much prefer stuff like this, swearies, dudes of hazzard etc...

I think as said above, it better in snippets because I though the pinkbike vid deanfbm links is really good.

You can have a low budget feel while still mixing things up a bit more IMO. I am probably older than the target demographic though 😆

I enjoyed that despite being in my 40's. I probably wouldn't have known what you were talking about either if I hadn't watched it 30 minutes earlier.
I think most on here would prefer a video about road bikes or golf.

I found the video to be most entertaining and found no problems whatsoever watching through from start to finish on this relaxed Saturday morning. In my view age is irrelevant, and this so-called 'ragged' style of riding allows one to see how conservative one's approach to riding may be.

I loved it. I'm bored to death with the cliche Pinkbike 2min 'edits' where 1min 30 of it is slomo shots of leaves, rain and whips. British Pie is IMO what the roots of mtb are; messing about in the woods with your mates, just double the speed with much more skill!!
