just got back from a icy 3 hour ride, wearing my xc skiing pants, bought from decathlon.

they felt a bit odd when i 1st put em on. but they are very nice to ride in.
not too windproof as to make you clammy. but windproof enough to keep todays chill off.
they also fend off icy water splashed on the lower legs, from puddles. water beads and runs off. very good indeed.

so now to the where from part.
where can i get xc skiing clothing?
not decathlon, as it is a bit small. so a proper shop or supplier.
anyone?

FWIW, I took a punt on these Santic pants from Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M9GPWD1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For properly cold weather, they're very good. Not ridiculously warm. Obviously DWR treated as drops were running off. Not too baggy, not too tight. Sizing is Asian though so might be tricky getting them  in big sizes.

£34, so seemed worth taking a punt on.

Sumo wrestlers are (typically) Asian though

Try https://www.sport-conrad.com/en/cross-country/cross-country-apparel/pants/. I've used them for skis previously - very good service.

Snowinn or Sportalbert.de have good ranges of XC gear.

@scotroutes how are you getting on with those santic trousers? I found them on Amazon and thought they rang a bell, then found this thread

Only had them on twice as it's not been cold enough (mostly been wearing shorts). They've been fine both times though.
