I've a Rohloff for about a year now.

It was second hand when i bought it.

When I had it built up I did cleanse and re oil of the hub using the correct stuff.

I noticed that when I had the bike out last time that there was a fair bit (more than I remember) of pedal drive when moving the bike around - i.e. the hub was driving the cranks around.

I cannot pick this up in use but before I do another old change is there anything else I can do?

Do I double cleanse it?

It had its sprocket removed by SJS who were brilliant to deal with and sorted a minor oil weep on the NDS and they didn't mention anything for concern.

Any thoughts/advice/hep?

Cheers,

Mark

It's normal, you can sometimes get rid of it for a bit by the application of a mallet though I'm not sure I can remember what you hit 🙂
SJS / Thorn forums are a good place to look for any advice on the hub.

It depends which gear you're in - some do it more than others.

Seems to be normal, mine does it.

Also, annoyingly, mine got steadily quieter as it was run in over the first year or so of ownership.
Than suddenly it started getting noisier again, to the point where it's noisier now than it was new 😕

I've tried it with fresh oil, minimal oil, overfilled with oil. Seems to be the same regardless.
