So I'm changing the dropouts on a frame to 12mm 'maxle' ones. Do I actually need a maxle axle or would a standard 135x12mm bolt through axle work?

If it would, does anyone know where I can get one? A maxle axle is £50, which seems expensive so I'd rather just get my allen keys out.

Cheers all

I have different drop outs for my frame for 12mm Maxle and a 12mm bolt through axle.

The Maxle non drive side drop out is threaded. Due to this I believe a normal bolt through axle won't fit through it. I've never tried it so I may be wrong.

My other bike is bolt through and that has one threaded dropout too which is what made me think it might work?

Cheers for the input though 🙂
