Now, I'm sure there's loads but hear me out...

Heading over with the caravan next Tuesday afternoon until Sunday.

Will have Mrs STR with me, so don't want to disappear for more than a few hours one morning.

Won't be riding Snowdon

Preferably don't want to have to drive, as won't have the bike rack and the eeb is a pig to load in the disco, but would consider it

So, is there a cracking route nearby, or is my best bet Betws y coed? Never ridden there btw

TIA

Conwy mountain and up onto Drum is ace! The descent will be as fast as you will go on an MTB in UK!

Check flat tyres mtb website for the gpx.

I've ridden a couple of variations of this as an evening ride, should be easily doable on an eeb.

The route I can see on Flat Tyres goes up to Llanfairfechan (sp), round and down Conwy Mountain. Is that the one?

Amen to that. It's surely got to be one of the best rides anywhere in the UK. I really need to go and do it again as its been a good few years since I have

I remember a thread on here years back about how fast you've actually been off-road. I think that Drum Mountain descent accounted for about half the replies. You've also got the most amazing views over the peninsula and down the coast, out to sea as you're hammering down it

That's the right area but not the route I remember doing (in fact last time I rode it was probably with Binners), I remember an out and back at one point just to top out and get the extra descent. I'll see what I can find

EDIT - the route from @tthew's strava on this thread looks more like it

It's a tough old route that one! Still the largest single climb I've ever done on Strava. But yes, the descent is fast. I had tyre sealant pissing everywhere out of the rear wheel, had to put a tube in for the final ride down to Conwy.

If you dont mind an out and back, i would start in Abergwyngregyn ( park just off the A55 W bound) and ride up throught the village and up the tarmac climb to the roman road.

A brief look at an OS map will make it really obvious where to go.

I'll be on an e-bike 😉

@breninbeener, don't mind an out and back - probably looking for something a bit shorter than @tthew 's route in any case tbh

I was going to suggest similar - you can easily make it into a loop by using the cycle path along the coast (no gnar, but decent views, and not strenuous). If doing this route, I'd ride to A-g-g along the coast then come back to Conwy on the Roman Road. The views will be spectacular (if it isn't raining 😉 ).
