Want to replace the freehub on my ancient zipp wheel, and zipp no longer make them. The free hub attached in a similar way to this one https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/shimano-deore-m510-525-freehub-body/rp-prod78987

I reckon if that hub wasn't cup and cone then I reckon I could probably bodge it on to my wheel. Anyone know anything similar that wouldn't require a threaded axle?

Photos of what you have would help I think

Dimensions and pitch of thread would also help

How do I add pics on here now I don't have a photo hosting account ? I'll take the free hub off and take some.

Think it's a standard width rear axle of 8mm.

The freehub looks very much like the one in the pic, ie no pawls visible, the entire freehub looks to be a sealed unit that attaches to the hub in same fashion as the deore. The difference is that it uses a cartridge bearing on the outer side, and a non threaded axle

Is it a disk wheel? Is there a track/fixed conversion kit for it? With a bit of bodging a spacers could you get a freewheel cassette and a 10mm spacer on the axle?

Have you looked at DTSwiss? I believe they OEM a lot of hubs so it may be one of theirs.

FSA do a selection also.

Team 30 looks to fit that way

Is there a part number on the zipp item ? Quite a few companies have had the zipp hub contract over the years prior to them making their own.

Just because it looks like it might fit is no guarantee. This could get expensive quickly .

What's wrong with current one that it can't be stripped and serviced?

(Shimano ones can be serviced it's just that like most Shimano things it's easier and more profitable to throw in a new one.

Yes its a disk wheel..an old 950 for 1995, which other than the freehub is in decent nick. It works for now but is a bit noisy and wobbles a bit (Not the wheel itself, just the freehub/cassette). I can't for the life of me work out how to strip it to get at the insides however.

I have no idea whether it can be converted to track, Think I read it could but likelihood of finding any parts is pretty non existent I'd say.

No markings on the freehub itself to give me a ref number and zipp were next to hopeless in helping out. Appreciate it's an old wheel but I'd rather throw 50 quid at it to try to fix it than have to shell out a grand on a new one. Added bonus of getting replacement is that I could run a 11 speed cassette..

If this is the hub refered to above..what I need is the exact opposite of that if that makes sense? Ie..The splined bit is on my wheel and the bit it sticks into is in my freehub.

If I send someone some pics can they post them for me..may be easier!

I'm presuming, from the Zipp timeline ( https://www.zipp.com/support/identify/discs ), that it is a 217 hub. Have you read this...?

These pics may work

I think it's the hip one pro or to the 217. Zipp tell me the freehub bearing can be changed but no idea how to access it.
