thinking about selling my surly disc trucker to purchase a new lighter tourer.
something i can tour on and ride audax events on.
not necessarily steel, able to take a 48c tyre if needed. rack mounts and guard mounts.
i had a look at the planet x london road which looked ideal.

anything spring to mind.

Singular Peregrine if you can find one?

Tripster ATR? More like 44c, I think, though?

Did you want discs?

Spa Audax - Reynolds or Ti, carbon fork, no discs but you'd be struggling with the tyre.
They do a steel forked tourer in Reynolds/Ti too.

Ridgeback Panorama's nice.
Full bike only I think and no discs.

Pinnacle Arkose has separate guard/rack mounts & discs, looks like a great bike.
Like the London Road too, specially the in the white.

Forget the Kona Sutra - no separate rack/guard mounts since they adopted the same frame as the Rove - heavyish too.

New Genesis frames an option, but the Tour de Fer looks similar to the Disc Trucker so I'd imagine it's very similar weight wise.

Thorn Audax?

Ellis Briggs/Bob Jackson?

There's always Hewitt but I think they're overpriced for what you get.

Pinnacle Arkose the only down wide being a lack of triple for touring duties

But that can of course be changes

The two might be easiest to modify as it 1x10 with bar end shifter and hydro discs

So all you'd need extra is a bar end shifter fron mech and chain set. Cheaper than buying an STI left triple lever

There comes a point in a man's life where one just has to face facts. Time for a Dawes Galaxy of some flavour. If you are going to ride Audax, you'll want to fit in 😉

Personally, depending on budget, a Dawes Clubman or Century would be an excellent mile muncher (not tourer - that will be a Galaxy). I think you'll struggle with 48c tyres and Audax in the same sentence.

thinking about it, a spare set of lighter wheels and fitting some drop bars to the surly would probably suffice.
it is comfy allday, and i aint ever gonna be at the front on any ride am i....... 😀

You'll lose maybe 1-1.5kg on the frameset.

Just upgrade the parts.

I spoke to bob jacksons a couple of years back about a similar build they were very helpful and not bad priced. Unfortunately i opted for a tl1000 motobike instead at the time lol

That london does look ideal bar the tyre clearance

I'd buy that Pinnacle purely based on the colour. 🙂

But as above...a Shand.
I'd love a Shand.
Have to be green though.

You've changed.

for the better i hope..... 😆

i have realised that when you are able to ride, riding anything is better than being unable to ride.
