All,
Sorry for the stupid question but can you run a 9 speed chainset with a 10 speed set up or does chain width become an issue ? I've got a 10 speed Shimano-equipped Cube Team Ltd MTB and am looking at replacing the chainset. A 9 speed chainset has come up cheap and I need to know if this would work.

I'd be interested in a general summary of 9, 10 (and, I guess, 11) speed compatabilities - chainsets, chains, cassettes, mechs, freehub/hub width; effects on chainline and what works with what. Is there such a webpage?
