On my 29er, now that my 11 speed cassette is getting worn (1 x 11), I'm thinking of upgrading to 12. Whilst retaining the 32T on the front I will gain obviously from 42T to 50T for climbing; but it would be nice to gain a bit of top end too - my LBS (lovely Stef at Rotec, near Reading) has "heard" that some 9 tooth sprockets allow the chain to jump - is this anyone here's experience please?

Plus, I see that from China you can buy a 12 speed 9-52 cog cassette - now would that work with a SRAM 12 Speed GX XD setup? Or should I just settle for a SRAM 10-50 one? Are there any other manufacturers r=that I should be looking at for this?

I honestly don’t think there are a lot of people running a cassette with a 9T sprocket.
I’ve been running 12s since Eagle arrived and never needed a 9T. 10-50 is almost perfect and a 9T sprocket wouldn’t improve it IMHO.
What groupset do you have at the moment?
I went from an 11-42 to an 11-46 cassette and whilst not gaining any top end the bottom gear for climbing was a massive improvement and made up for my lack of fitness.
Maximum capacity of a GX mech is 50, obviously. While you might well get it working OK, it could be less than optimal, as Eagle is fussy enough at the best of times.
I assume the 9-52 is a copy of the KCNC version? Check the weight of the copy - boat anchor cassettes aren't great.
Very few cassettes with 9t, the E13 is about the only one I know of.
I wouldn't want to be pedalling hard with a steel chain on a flimsy 9t alu sprocket
10t seems reliable, I'd stick with that. Maybe a slightly bigger chainring, so you don't get as much low end but gain a bit at the top is a better idea.
At the moment I'm running 32T chainring, and 10-42 cassette on my 11 Speed setup. But the cassette is getting quite worn now.
Didn't know 9t was a thing outside of BMX.
If sram and shimano aren't doing it it's probably with good reason if you want more range at both ends why not try a 34 up front? It will have the desired affect with no reliabilty compromise.
Try oval if you haven't already, I think they're good.
I think 10-50 12 speed cassette with 34 ring will suit you then, you gain at both ends

Yes, that's the way I'll go I think, 34 on the front, 10-50 on the back. Those 10-50 cassettes are pricey aren't they (I am tight!).

The cassettes are pricy even if you aren't tight.
A friend of mine ran the E13 cassette for a while - at first he raved about the range, shortly after that he declared it to be “garbage”. (He’s American). It’s such a tight bend and so few engaged teeth with a chain that may be badly lubed and covered in mud - and he wasn’t even riding in the mud!
I have 34t 10-50 on my 27.5 hardtail. Nice big range, climbs anything, and is going bloody fast by the time I spin out. It replaced 32t 11-36 10 speed so was like having 15% faster on one end and 25% easier on the other.
Thanks ever so, I'm liking the sound of that very much! I've just got to work out offset on my front 'ring now, on a non-boost bike.
Easy enough to swap cheap chainrings to try different combos I went with 36T with 27.5 wheels I can really get some speed on tarmac and found low ratio still acceptable.
For 29 wheels I'd probably go 34T though.
