I am sure I am at the right place. Am I wrong or did Pace make a multilink front and possibly rear suspension bike in the 80s early 90s ? I’ve been searching but can’t find anything and I need to win an argument

They did design a DH bike (the one above), but don't think it was multi-link front. Muddy Fox did one - was it the Rock 'n Roll or something like that - obviously wasn't Pace...

Wyhte did the PRST-1, but i think that's late 90's/early 00's.
Then Muddy Fox had one as well. That might be what you're looking for.

The PRST-1 was a bit marmite, the Muddy Fox (Interactive) was just terrible.

Retrobike may be more right.

Or are you thinking of full on multilink forks?
Girvin had one (fitted to many proflexes) and AMP research had one as well.

Pretty sure Pace never did a multi link full sus. Plenty who did though of a sort if you go back 25/30 years - AMP/Mongoose, Pro Flex, think Porsche/Votec I think maybe dabbled with one a few weird and wonderful US and Euro companies etc.

Off topic but can anyone remember the Pace DJ bike? It was anodised blue and from pre-4X when Dirt were pushing the BSX thing. I think it had 24" wheels.

I was obsessed with that thing as a kid. Can't find a single picture of it now.

Hey yes it was Whyte! Saw it in a shop I. Yorkshire and it looked totally mad. Lost my argument but worth it. Cheers

I remember taking a PRST-1 out for a ride for a few hours from Chevin Cycles in Otley (West Yorks).

Was initially interesting but felt very odd and slightly weird compared to my mates Heckler.

Didn’t buy one.

90s and IIRC it was called "Duncan's Purple Descender" (DPD)?

They actually came and gave a talk at my Uni with it on display (this would have been circa 98/99ish I think.

The general gist was it was great fun to make, we're never going to sell it...

Pace made and sold a dh bike called the RC500. Unlike the DPD above it had a linkage driven rear shock and paces own design of triple clamp DH forks. It also had odd geometry, so while the DPD (which was a one-off prototype drawing on Duncan’s experience in Motorbike Trials) looked “right” the RC500 looked like someone had had an accident with a road bike and an aluminium stockholders.

Then Muddy Fox made the interactive, which you may have been thinking of. It even appeared on tomorrows world

Assume one of you lot has been digging around on Retrobike 'cos here's one from a very old thread.

Was different to that. Late 90s Pace did the RC250T (I think) trials bike which was basically a dinky version of the XC frame with stuff like an extra top tube/down tube brace. Chris Akrigg used to ride one when he rode for Pace.

Never rode the RC500 but always wanted one. Nearest I came was having a set of the RC150 Monster forks on my old mk1 SC Bullit. They were absolutely amazing - smoothest forks I've ever owned but were a bit maintenance heavy. Looked amazing as well...

a bit maintenance heavy.

Bit of an understatement, down there with Hanebrink/ZZYZX IIRC.

Honestly you're the first person in 20 years I've ever heard say anything good about them.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that, it was on sale for a like one year wasn't it and has some kind of adjustable rate link mounted off the downtube. Only ever saw it in red, did they do it in other colours?

OP are you thinking of the USE anti-dive linkage suspension fork?

Owned a set of ZZYZX too - they're in a totally different league. They needed maintenance by the time you got to the bottom of a run!

Owned a load of Pace forks and I loved every set of them...

Sounds like a Whyte Preston (named for the ugly bastard bulldog of Wallace & Grommet fame).

There's a scrotty anodized black which actually looks like someone spilled engineer's blue all over it and gone "aye, it be reet!"

I'm not sure the linkage was adjustable, more like they adjusted the design throughout the year.

(Pace retro forks) (Reliable performance)
