My wife's Cube hardtail came with Shimano 3 x 8 gears (mix of Altus and Alivio). BB is cartridge style (Octalink if I remember correctly).

I'm fully 12 speed now but I have some 11 speed stuff left over that I'd like to put on her bike. I have everything except 11 speed cranks.

Is it possible to convert a 3 X 8 crank into 1 X 11 to use with 1 X 11 gearing? i remember years back I converted a 3 X 9 bike to 1 X 11 by putting a narrow wide ring on the 3 X 9 cranks (Shimano deore HT2) and it worked well.

Is this possible with a 3 X 8 crank? Thanks.

Yeah shouldn't be a problem, should be just as easy as your 3x9 conversion. Assume you know but will state anyway, just need to replace the middle chain ring with one suitable for 1x drivetrains. Narrow wide ideally but doesn't have to be. Might aswell use the original middle chain ring for a little while. see if you'd prefer something a little bigger or smaller.
