Can anyone recommend a torque wrench to fit the newer Hope EVO Crankset that can go up to 75nm?
I have a good quality MTB one but it doesn’t go anywhere near 75nm.
Neither do the Evo cranks - they recommend 50nm
I'm considering buying one of the £20 210Nm eBay jobbies. Anyone had any experience with one?
Looks similar to my 'Draper' one I've had for years.
I really do hope you find the right tool to fit your cranks.
I must, however, thank you for giving me the mental image of someone trying to fit some cranks using a 75 nanometre torque wrench.
I was just about to say the same thing re. the Draper. The only difference is that my Draper came with an extension bar and a 1/2" - 3/8" reducer.
My Draper does a pretty good job for this sort of job. I actually bought it for the car & caravan but it does the job on BB's very well. No idea how accurate it is but it seems to work OK.

Yeah, that's the previous generation - it won't help you much for the new ones which are a lot simpler - one bolt to tighten to 50Nm, snug up the preload collar, gently tighten the preload collar bolt, done
Still a 75Nm wrench makes sense as you don't want to be using a 50Nm wrench to tighten a 50 Nm bolt.
Teng do a 20-100nm jobbie,£60 at Screwfix. Been using mine in the workshop for a couple of years with no problems (bought it specifically for Hope cranks as it copes with both recommended torques). The only issue, and it applies to a lot of torque wrenches, is it won't deal with left-hand threads.
Why is that? I'm assuming as the driver bit can be set to go left or right (anti-clockwise or clockwise), then it should be able to torque to a setting either way. If they can't, why can't they?
Very rare for a switch operated rather to do left hand torque.
I have a ending beam that does left hand
We have some push through 3/8s drive that do left hand torque but as a rule unless it's one of those I would not trust it to do left hand torque unless I've seen the manufacturers specs with my own eyes

Get a torque wrench with a push through bit or drive, then you can do both L/H and R/H threads.
@duir - apologies. Wasn't meaning to have a go or be pedantic. Everyone knew what you meant, and I was just amusing myself with the idea of a teeny tiny wrench. For reference though, nm is nanometres and Nm is Newton metres. Capital N cos it's named after a dude.

I've got one like the eBay one above. Totally generic but works fine.
Comes with a certificate of calibration for what it's worth.
Only thing is it only torques in one direction, if I ever buy another id get one that does both directions. Small negative to be honest though.
I have a smaller torque wrench for the much lower settings on the bike. From Wiggle I Think.
I got all "tooled up" when I got my first carbon frame/bars etc etc and don't regret it.
Clarkes digital from Machinemart is a nice bit of kit, works both ways so perfect for bottom bracket and pedals as well as cassette and certain cranks.
