Anyone been today- are the reports of snow and ice accurate? How about mabie, it usually escapes the worst?

Glentress looks pretty snowy, we'll be digging low down tomorrow- ranger says snow down even as low as falla brae. So I'm going "fat bike or ice spikes on the #poon". Not sure if there's been long enough for the fearsome Glentress Glacier to form and kill everyone.

(not my photo but this looks like the climb to the shelter on the black? Usually the snowiest part, that and the climb to teh mast

If in doubt, I go to innerleithen... The enduro and golfy trails have heavier tree cover and softer/wetter surfaces so tend to stay rideable, armoured trails freeze up quicker... And the steepness helps you keep going. Even if you stay lower down you'll probably either find something relatively clear, or something absolutely hilarious. (I'm just assuming the top climbs at the golfy will be buried though)

Mabie will be fine. The red is rideable apparently.

Ae red will be better than normal if it's buried. If you ask Ric he'll say Drum's riding great, Drum's always riding great 😆

Just back from Glentress, pretty rideable, little bit slippier than last Friday as the snow has been compacted a bit, but seems to have stayed cold enough not to freeze-thaw and get really slippy. Fine on normal tyres, even managed with 26inch wheels....

I did a sort of alternative GT ride today and it was bloody lovely tbh. Climb's all ridable though the climb up to spooky will probably be easier to push in places. Boundary Trail looks like someone's driven a tiny pistebasher down it, it's snow-covered but riding beautifully (the climbs out of the trees are drifted under in places). Five Year Plan and Broon Troot were crunchy and a wee bit snowy but not bad. I reckon the red will be pretty icy in places though just from compacted snow, so I went down the Fort instead of falla. Lovely.

Was snowing fairly hard when I left though.
