My brother in law and I are planning to visit a number if the 7 Stanes this coming August. We'll definitely be doing Kirroughtree, Glentress and hopefully Mabie and need somewhere to stay for 2-3 nights. Any suggestions? B&B probably preferred as quite fancy eating out at a local pub in the evening.

http://www.marthrownofmabie.com/ is a top place, although not a B&B. It has bunkhouse and posh camping options.

There is a hotel with a bar and restaurant walking distance down the hill, but that's the only choice for eating out.

Better have a look at a road map 💡

Kirry to GT is about a 3hr drive!

If you were to base yourself in Dumfries:
Kirry 1hr
Dalbeattie 1/2hr
Mabie 20mins
Ae 20mins
Drumlanrig(not a Stane) 45mins
GT 1.5hrs with Inners 20mins along the road

Loads of b&b in Dumfries within walking distance of town centre.

If you want to stay in Innerleithen I can thoroughly recommend Glede knowe guest house. Look at the reviews on trip advisor. Great place to stay

To get the best of the Stanes which of the trail centers would people suggest riding? We're
going to have most of Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday and most of Monday. I suppose we do t want to spend too much of our time in the car!

Really fancy Kirroughtree and Mabie - what else do STWers recommend?

Most are going to recommend GT and Inners as a 1stop do it all 🙄

I however live in the D&G area therefore biased towards that area 😉
If you add Drumlanrig into the equation you have a bigger variety of trails to sample...

If you don't want to spend too much time driving around but want to do Kirry;
Drive up to Dumfries, do Mabie. Find accom in Newton Stewart for Fri night. Ride Kirry on Sat and drive over to GT/Inners 💡
Kirry black takes approx 4hrs depending on diversions, add on a 3hr drive to GT/Peebles/Inners. You could be there for a wee evening play before pub time 😆
